Because Licking the Deck is More Fun

Embarrassed is the only word I can think of when describing tonight's swim lesson experience! I am sure the pool manager was chuckling after we left. Here is how it all shook out--He thought Henry should be in the Preschool Level 1 class. I argued with him, thinking Henry should be in at least Preschool Level 2 (watch out Sarah Palin here comes a swimming mom!). My points were:

1) He can swim by himself 5-7 yards.

2) He is excited and loves the water.

3) He can jump off the diving board!

4) AND, (this is where I brought out the big guns) I taught swim lessons for 8 years and I know a little something about swimming.

I just didn't want my superstar to be in a class with a bunch of water weenies who are afraid of their own bathtub!

So, when we got to the pool Henry clung onto me for dear life, wouldn't get in the pool and when he finally did, he seemed to have more fun licking the deck than showing off his awesome swimming skills.

I learned a few valuable parenting lessons tonight: only brag about Henry to people I know and on the Heater Family Blog and don't bring out the big guns unless you are absolutely sure!
