Boy says "no" or ignores often when Mom asks boy to do something around the house (get dressed, pick up room, shut the door).
Mom gets frustrated and yells and yells.
Mom figures out after some time (maybe too much time) that yelling is not working.
Mom remembers all of those things she teaches teachers.
She remembers that if you positively reinforce behavior you want to see that it can change behavior!
So, mom created a positive behavior plan.
Boy earns a point every time he does what Mom asks. He is ignored when he doesn't.
Points equal prizes.
When boy earned 40 points he asked if he could go to the nursery, pick out his own flower and plant it where HE wants.
Boy is happy and Mom is happy!
Behavior is changed!
(well, most of the time)
